Abstract

The article presents the results of an educational experiment conducted as part of research work aimed at writing a master's thesis. The novelty of the study is to expand the understanding of the school adaptation factors in junior school children. Deepening scientific knowledge about the role of self-esteem in children's school adaptation is the goal of one of the hypotheses of this study.

The Introduction substantiates the relevance of the research problem and identifies the main components of school adaptation and the prerequisites for its relationship with the self-esteem of younger schoolchildren.

The «Methods» section describes in detail the staged part of the study. The aim, subject and empirical object of research are indicated. This section also contains formulations of hypotheses and descriptions of research methods and techniques. The following methods were used in the study: The method of "Ladder" (modified by I. M. Markovskaya); "Test De Greefe"; Questionnaire "My school attitude" (N. G. Luskanova); The method of "Dembo-Rubinstein self-esteem research" (modified by A. M. Prikhozhan).

The «Results» section summarizes the results of the ascertaining experiment and provides data confirming hypothesis 1. The main emphasis in this section is on the results of an educational experiment, purposed to develop a program for psychological correction of school adaptation and self-esteem in younger school children. The data obtained during statistical processing of the results of the ascertaining and formative experiment confirm the effectiveness of correction of school adaptation and self-esteem in younger school children.

The «Discussion» section examines the positions of Russian and foreign researchers on whether self-esteem is a factor in school adaptation. Various methods of school adaptation and self-esteem therapy proposed by other authors are considered.
